John P. Jumper,
General, USAF (Retired)

General Jumper retired in November 2005 after 39 years of military service. He last served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As Chief of Staff, he was the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of more than 700,000 Active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the U.S. and overseas. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he and the other Service Chiefs functioned as military advisers to the President, National Security Council, and Secretary of Defense. Upon retirement, Gen Jumper served as a member of the Secretary of Defense’s independent review of Walter Reed Medial Center. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Goodrich Corporation, Jacobs Engineering Group, SAIC, and the Air Force Association, and is a member of the Virginia Military Institute Board of Trustees.
